Edward McCleery (1867-1962) was a medical doctor in Kane, Pennsylvania. He saved the last four wolf pups from slaughter when the Federal government began to eliminate the wolves in the Rocky Mountain regions in the 1920s. Doctor McCleery then started a tourist attraction to educate folks about wolves, and prove that, with care and kindness, wolves could live in harmony with humans. By doing so, he saved the Canis lupus nubilus (Lobo Wolves) from extinction.
